Product Description:
Galvanized Carbon Steel Forged Eye Bolt: Fire and Metal Forging Strength
The galvanized carbon steel forged eye bolt is a combined component of heavy industry machinery, engineered to bear maximum loads and weathering. Its production incorporates millennium-old blacksmithing principles with modern metallurgical science, making it an item utilized in bridge construction, ship rigging, and machinery installation.
It begins with unrefined carbon steel rods containing 0.29-0.54% carbon, structurally engineered to be tough. Induction furnaces heat the rods to incandescent orange (1,150°C), transforming hard metal into plastic shape. Skilled forgers then put the red-hot steel into closed-die forging tools, where 2,000-ton presses stamp the eye bolt's distinctive circular head and tapered shank in a single explosive hit. This impact forging procedure compacts internal grain boundaries, which closes up porosity defects inherent in cast alternatives.
Following forging, the bolts in their coarse shape proceed to precision machining. Multiaxis CNC lathes cut ISO-standard metric or unified threads with micrometer accuracy, of particular significance for load carrying. The parts are then put through austenitizing—a two-step thermal ritual. The parts are quenched first in polymer-cooled baths to achieve Rockwell C50-55 hardness, and tempering is performed at 425°C to restore fracture resistance.
The actual armor comes from zinc immersion. After scale removal by abrasive blasting, bolts are submerged in a bath of molten zinc at 449°C—a temperature carefully regulated to create a 85μm thick zinc-iron alloy layer. In contrast to electroplating, this hot-dip coating has a self-repair capability: minute oxides of zinc plug scratches in use. Last inspection encompasses salt-spray testing (500+ hours resistance) and proof-loading to 150% rated capacity.
From red hot forge to zinc shielded protection, each step of manufacturing these eye bolts serves one over-riding purpose: the production of a trusted lifeline that works flawlessly when lives and infrastructure are at stake.
